The quality of information and communication systems is critical to the well-being, wealth and welfare of the global
community. Every facet of our personal and business lives is heavily dependent on computer based systems and therefore on the competence and professionalism of those who design, build, implement and manage those systems. The time has come to define and create the standards for a global IT profession. There is a clear need for increased joint action and engagement of all key IT industry stakeholders, and for partnerships at the highest level. In a spirit of dialogue and cooperation, the International Professional Practice Partnership (IP3) provides a global platform that will help shape and implement relevant policies to foster professionalism in IT worldwide.
